Sur l'avion

For this my first entry, well second, but the first was really an introduction. I am writing from above the Pacific Ocean en route to Island Paradise with my parental units. They offered to take me there with them when they booked my mothers time share and I acquiesced. The fact of the matter is I agreed mainly to have something fun to do while my best bud/ ex goes on a crazy fun road trip. But I am a PADI certified scuba diver so I am sure I will find adventure, or at least pretty pictures of fish. Unfortunately I am sitting next to an empty seat so I can't even entertain you with my seat-mates antics. So instead I will relate an adventure I had with my regular dive buddy off Catalina Island, wait no, this was off Annacapa Island. We were in the process of getting our advanced certs, and it was the end of the day. she is involved in an online group who do odd things and had discussed with me before hand how she wanted to have tea under the sea. So I brought my camera and we prepared to do this on our free dive. Clinging to rocks under water we mimed making tea and then drinking it twice to ensure we had a good shot. We then continued our fun dive when N (my buddy) indicated she had found something which turned out to be a 5 lb. weight bag. Recovering treasure is everyones dream so we of course had to retrieve the prize. I suggested, well mimed really, underwater communication is hard, putting it in my BCD, for non-divers thats a vest you can fill with air to make you neutrally buoyant at depth, mine had pockets for weights or gear, mine had around 10 lbs. in it and for some reason she took out my quick release, thank goodness I was overweighed to begin with because losing 5 lbs. is not great, she grabbed me held onto my weights and helped me replace them with our treasure. When we got back to the boat we shared out story to the crowd. It sounds silly now and even though I promised I wouldn't mention it, N broke my finger when we loaded our gear in her car that afternoon. That being said N is fabulous and if she hadn't moved to England to get her masters we would still be diving together. That concludes my story of how N broke my finger after we had tea under the sea in an Octopus' Garden in the shade. I will go back to reading to pass this plane route.
